We are looking for dedicated individuals to fill our Contract Monitor position and help monitor and oversee the work of contractors, ensuring the highest standards in maintenance and construction activities. Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts, road and bridge specifications and associated regulations in highway maintenance.
• Thorough knowledge of roadway construction, maintenance, and repair techniques, practices and equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Skill in the use of computers and software programs.
• Knowledge of inspection procedures, as well as materials testing and acceptance.
• Ability to monitor and oversee the work of others.
• Safety shoes required.
• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
• Ability to collect and analyze data and prepare timely and accurate reports.
• Ability to obtain Work Zone Safety and Flagging certification, Erosion and Sediment Control certification, ACI Concrete, and VDOT materials certifications within 6-12 months of employment.
Additional Considerations
• Possession of valid CDL and DOT medical card.
• Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Safety.
• Skill in the use of automated construction management and financial software.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Construction or related field desired.
• American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Level I (CCWA) OR WACEL Concrete I Certification.
• Asphalt Field Level I.
• Experience in highway, structures, or equipment maintenance or construction.
• Experience in roadway maintenance, construction and equipment operations.
• Flagger.
• DEQ: Responsible Land Disturber (RLD).
• Experience monitoring and inspecting contractors or overseeing the work of others.
• CPR with AED, Standard First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP) Combined Course.
• Soils & Aggregate Compaction.
• Possession of Work Zone Safety and Flagging certification, Erosion and Sediment Control certification, ACI Concrete, and VDOT materials certifications.
